CNJ Lighting Solutions introduces our new partnership with SOLÈRE!

the new solar era

Choosing a renewable energy option, such as solar lighting systems, should not come at the expense of quality and performance.

We have joined forces to create the ultimate solar technology that can operate 365 nights a year, anytime, anywhere, and for a long time. From -50 to + 65 degrees Celsius, north of the 52nd parallel or in the middle of the Arizona desert, SOLÈRE lighting systems brave all climates and geography… and they won’t let you down because their technology extends the life of their batteries beyond 20 years.

The necessary shift from fossil fuels to clean energy is pushing the demand for electric energy to breaking point. The future has caught up with us. As part of this energy revolution, back-up renewable options are springing up everywhere to relieve the network. Yet, despite their great promises, they fail to deliver truly effective products for all climate and geography.

SOLÈRE is committed to relieving the grid by automating a percentage of our electricity consumption with our top-of-the-line solar technology so that there is electricity throughout every community and light for everyone. Thanks to our stand-alone back-up solar solutions with extended life cycle, easy to install, unfailingly reliability in all climates, designed with the concern for excellence that characterizes us, we are stakeholders in building a better future for each and every one of us.

Contact CNJ Lighting Solutions to help you design the correct solar solution for your needs… whether it be the PRIMA, OPTIMA or MAGNA product-line… let us help to design the solution for you.

Poor ventilation worsens short‐range airborne transmission of respiratory infection

To explain the observed phenomenon that most SARS‐CoV‐2 transmission occurs indoors whereas its outdoor transmission is rare, a simple macroscopic aerosol balance model is developed to link short‐ and long‐range airborne transmission. The model considers the involvement of exhaled droplets with initial diameter ≤50 µm in the short‐range airborne route, whereas only a fraction of these droplets with an initial diameter within 15 µm or equivalently a final diameter within 5 µm considered in the long‐range airborne route. One surprising finding is that the room ventilation rate significantly affects the short‐range airborne route, in contrast to traditional belief. When the ventilation rate in a room is insufficient, the airborne infection risks due to both short‐ and long‐range transmission are high. A ventilation rate of 10 L/s per person provides a similar concentration vs distance decay profile to that in outdoor settings, which provides additional justification for the widely adopted ventilation standard of 10 L/s per person. The newly obtained data do not support the basic assumption in the existing ventilation standard ASHRAE 62.1 (2019) that the required people outdoor air rate is constant if the standard is used directly for respiratory infection control. Instead, it is necessary to increase the ventilation rate when the physical distance between people is less than approximately 2 m.

VIRUS CLEANING PILOT SUCCESSFUL IN OKANAGAN SCHOOL

The first Canadian installation of a new virus-destroying LED light has been tested and found to be highly effective in cleaning the air at a private school in the Okanagan, paving the way for installations in other public and private facilities such as hospitals, restaurants, and businesses.

The Titan UVC LED units were easily installed inside UNISUS School’s air ducts, providing a safe indoor environment for their students, teachers, and staff. The Titan UVC LED lights have been proven to be highly effective in eradicating all indoor airborne pathogens including the COVID-19 virus. Airborne pathogens are a challenge for schools even without COVID.

A local Okanagan lighting company, CNJ Lighting Solutions partnered with a Canadian manufacturer NEXNORD Inc. of Brantford Ontario, to install these Titan UVC LED air duct lights, the only UVC LED product on the market that is powerful and robust enough to eradicate all indoor airborne pathogens no matter the size of the building when installed inside the building’s air ducts.

CNJ’s Director of Operations Nancy Wilson says, “The purpose of the UNISUS School pilot project was to test the effectiveness of the Titan UVC air duct devices in cleaning the indoor air of fungal spores. Final air testing showed an overall reduction of 89.2%. Fungi are the largest and most difficult pathogens to eradicate. Viruses, such as COVID-19, are the smallest and most fragile. Therefore, we know that if the Titan UVC LED air duct device is eliminating the indoor airborne fungi, it is also disinfecting the indoor air of all bacteria and viruses.

The TITAN LED UVC lights are installed inside a building’s cold air return ducts, and as the airflow approaches the Titan lights, this powerful 70W UVC light, performing at 280 nanometers, deactivates the RNA and DNA of the organism rendering it harmless.  It also prevents the biofilm buildup on HVAC coils.

In comparison to the Titan UVC LED lights, the old UVC lamp technology will require annual lamp replacements that become very costly. However, once installed, the Titan UVC LED light will require no maintenance for up to 10 years.

Shan Jamal, CEO NEXNORD Inc. says “In March 2020, when we realized that COVID-19 was a deadly airborne disease that was present inside a building’s air ventilation system, we pivoted from manufacturing industrial and commercial LED lighting to focus on creating UVC LED air duct lights to eradicate the virus indoors. We made it our goal to play a part in helping create a safe indoor environment for businesses and residences. We succeeded in doing so, by creating an extremely powerful device that will eradicate all indoor airborne pathogens such as the coronavirus, cold and flu viruses, bacteria, and mold. Our fixtures provide clean and disinfected indoor air.”

VIRUS CLEANING PILOT SET FOR OKANAGAN SCHOOL

A local Okanagan lighting company is poised to install the first to market virus-busting light system, in UNISUS School. Summerland-based CNJ Lighting Solutions is partnering with Canadian manufacturer NEXNORD Inc. of Brantford Ontario, to install the Titan, the only UVC LED product on the market that is powerful and robust enough to clean 2000 cfm of air when installed into an HVAC system. Air pathogens are challenges for schools even without Covid. The installation will fill a critical link in terms of providing a clean and safe learning environment.

CNJ’s Director of Operations Nancy Wilson says, “UNISUS School will be a showcase for the air cleaning power of the Titan, ensuring harmful pathogens such as COVID-19, are captured from the room and inactivated prior to spreading through a building, protecting the health of students and staff. Ultimately CNJ Lighting plans to install this system in hospitals, nursing homes, sports arenas, retail environments, and residential settings. The Titan efficiently and effectively cleans the air in all buildings using a forced air handling system”.

Dave Bowen Director of Sales, NexNord Inc. says, “NexNord is proud to partner with CNJ Lighting Solutions and UNISUS School in showcasing the Titan product. We believe the Titan will give all of us the confidence to once again enter our schools, businesses, arenas and homes, that are free of harmful pathogens”.

The TITAN LED UVC lights are easily installed into a building’s air ducts and, as the air flows past the lights, this powerful 70W UVC lamp, performing at 280 nanometers, deactivates the DNA of the organism rendering it harmless. It also prevents the biofilm buildup on HVAC coils. CNJ Lighting Solutions has been providing lighting products and services to a wide range of clients since 2007. Headquartered in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, CNJ has a dedicated team of lighting specialists, engineers, and industry experts providing customer service, lighting layouts, and photometric measurements to support our clients throughout the planning process.
